A brief insight into my teaching career

Working with international students

I enjoyed a particularly interesting and, for me, important experience during a summer and winter semester at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Bernburg and at Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie.

My task was to explain the background and workings of our healthcare system to students from China, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Mongolia, and the United States, among other countries. This not only gave me an insight into the healthcare systems in those countries – but I also experienced the young people's enthusiasm for our German system, which they unanimously regarded as the best in the world. The Asian students in particular are very eager to learn more, and aim to implement as much as possible of the success of the German healthcare and social systems in their home countries. They wish to benefit from Germany's example, and hope very much for our support. I personally view strengthening and supporting the young people in their endeavor as an interesting future prospect for Germany. After all, they are the managers and opinion leaders of tomorrow.
